HBK’s Virtual Test Division
In July 2021, Concurrent Real-Time was purchased by Spectris, plc, and became part of its HBK Virtual Test Division. Spectris, plc specializes in precision instrumentation and controls, and employs over 7,500 worldwide. HBK is a Spectris platform business employing approximately 2,900 globally. In 2019, Spectris aligned a group of Virtual Testing companies as a division under its HBK platform since HBK already had a strong presence in physical testing and data acquisition.
HBK’s Virtual Test Division currently includes five companies that focus on providing real-time software, simulator, and hardware-in-the-loop solutions to virtually test products throughout the development cycle, helping companies accelerate innovation and reduce time-to-market, and improve their competitive advantage.

Interdata, Inc. is founded and introduces 16-bit microcomputers.
Datacraft is formed.
Harris-Intertype acquires majority interest in Datacraft.
Perkin-Elmer acquires Interdata and creates new division: the Data Systems Group.
Perkin-Elmer introduces first 32-bit minicomputer.
The Data Systems Group is spun off from Perkin-Elmer as Concurrent Computer Corporation.
Concurrent merges with MASSCOMP, a real-time UNIX computing company.
Harris Computer Systems (formerly Datacraft) is spun off from Harris Corporation.
Harris Real-Time Computer Systems is acquired.
MediaHawk video server is introduced.
Florida headquarters relocates to Atlanta as company focuses on video-on-demand market.
The RedHawk real-time OS is introduced for the x86 Linux solutions market.
Concurrent awarded Lockheed Martin Star Supplier Award.
SIMulation Workbench real-time modeling environment introduced.
